Students eating lunch

On May 2nd and 3rd, 2024, a group of Greenon FFA members attended the Ohio State Convention. On the first day of the convention, we arrived at the Ohio Expo Center around 10:00 in the morning. We were present for the opening ceremony given by the Ohio State FFA Officers. The keynote speaker, Krista Simpson Anderson, gave a very moving speech. Kyndall Cornetet states, “Her speech was very sad but I learned a lot about appreciating loved ones.” After the closing ceremony, we left the convention center and we went to Dave & Busters for a nice lunch and a few hours of playing games. We went back to the expo center for the second ceremony where chapter awards were given and a very funny keynote speaker, Morris Morrison, shared some stories from his life. Students had time to explore the convention center and grab some food from the many wonders that were at the Ohio State Convention. For the third session which was at 6:30 PM, honorary state degree recipients were recognized. Greenon FFA members arrived back at Greenon around 10:00 that night.

The next day, Greenon FFA members arrived at the State Convention for the fourth ceremony at 9:30 AM. Syndey Hartley, Ethan Cunningham, and Kaylee Smith were awarded their officer awards. We are very proud of them! After the fourth ceremony students were able to grab lunch. For the 5th session, Ohio State FFA Officer, Luke Jennings, gave his retiring speech. Nathan Boysel, Ethan Cunningham, Sydney Harley, Allie Hundley, and Kaylee Smith were awarded their State FFA Degrees. After this ceremony, we headed home. We stopped at Culvers on our way home for a yummy treat.

This year’s Ohio State FFA Convention was very successful. Many members are excited and looking forward to next year's State Convention. We are very proud of all of our members that were awarded degrees. Great job!
