Greenon Local District has been awarded the Ohio Department of Education Momentum Award! This award recognizes districts and buildings that have shown outstanding improvement in achievement while also maintaining consistent growth.
The letter from Stephen D. Dackin, the new Director of the Department of Education and Workforce, states that this award "recognizes the devoted teachers and staff who consistently go above and beyond, ensuring that all students receive exceptional learning and instruction. Your tireless efforts in nurturing young minds, fostering a positive learning environment, and promoting holistic development has not gone unnoticed. Your impact extends far beyond the classroom, shaping the future leaders of tomorrow."
To be eligible for this award, districts, and buildings must have improved their Performance Index by three or more points from the 2021-2022 report card to the 2022-2023 report card while also receiving a Value-Added progress rating of 4 or more stars. This accomplishment showcases Greenon Local's efforts to elevate academic outcomes and provide a high-quality education for its students.
Upon receiving the award, Superintendent Darrin Knapke said, "Let's take a moment to celebrate this well-deserved recognition and let it inspire us to continue striving for excellence in everything we do. The Momentum Award is a testament to our staff and students' hard work, dedication, and commitment. This award highlights the district's collective efforts to promote student learning and success and reflects the positive impact of our strategic plan initiatives."
