Congratulations to Mr. Tom Jenkins, Greenon Junior/Senior High School STEM Teacher, who is one of four finalists for Ohio Teacher of the Year! Congratulations to Mr. Tom Jenkins, Greenon Junior/Senior High School STEM Teacher, who is one of four finalists for the 2021 Ohio Teacher of the Year!
Mr. Jenkins selected as the State Board District 10 Teacher of the Year, then named one of four finalists for Ohio Teacher of the Year by the Ohio Department of Education.
"Tom's passion for teaching and learning is contagious and inspiring for educators all around the country," said Superintendent Darrin Knapke. "We are incredibly proud of him for earning this well-deserved recognition."
Mr. Jenkins has taught for 23 years, including 21 years at Greenon Local Schools. He is a graduate of Wright State University (Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education, 1997; Master’s Degree in Science Teaching, 2000) and holds a Secondary Engineering Education degree from the University of Cincinnati, 2018.
He is also a recent recipient of the Lemelson-MIT Excite Award and the Excellence in Teaching Award from the Springfield Rotary Club.
Mr. Jenkins' selection as an Ohio Teacher of the Year finalist was featured in the Springfield News-Sun and at his alma mater, Wright State University.
