Our story this week is Tornado found on pages 187 – 203.
It is a realistic fiction
story from the novel by Betsy Byers. We will focus on characters, setting,
problem, story events, and the mood of the story.
Grammar / Writing
In Grammar, we will continue to work on
common and proper nouns and
introduce pronouns. We
will be writing paragraphs with a topic sentence and 3
supporting sentences.
Math
We will be
working on comparison number stories, partial-sums algorithms, and
Trade-first subtraction algorithms. Please refer
to the Family Letter if you are
confused. I teach these
methods and “the old-fashioned way” (the way you and I
were taught!) and let the
children choose the way they prefer.
They used these
methods in 2nd grade so are familiar with them. A big CONGRATULATIONS
to Caiden Butler and Kyle
Berry for passing through the 12’s in
Journey Through
the Stars!! Way to
go!! J
